May I just say, once again, how glad I am that this universe exists? :D Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the fandom who doesn't think it's completely crazy that the Doctor might be willing to settle down for a short time in order to have "forever" with Rose. And when you throw in the fact that they'd be essentially repopulating his species ... well, isn't it more crazy that he wouldn't be willing to do this? Especially when you consider that (even if Rose didn't have an extended lifespan) a decade or two spent on the slow path in order to be with the woman he loved would be just a brief sabbatical in his thousand-plus years? I wouldn't want every story to be like this, but darn it, I need some happy places to retreat to!
(Ahem, sorry. Rant over. I think I need a 12-step program. "Hi, I'm Kathy (Hi Kathy!) and I'm a hopeless romantic." Or maybe it should be a personal ad ... "I'm Kathy, and my turn-ons are big damn heroes, soul mates, in-canon pairings, and happy endings." *bg*)
This was a great chapter in this ongoing saga. It started out light, with Rose snarking at the neighbor, but turned quite intense and emotional. It makes perfect sense that the children could make this mistake, and that doing so would be quite traumatizing for everyone. Very well thought out. :) Rose is such a good mother, as we all knew she would be, and it was great to see that come out so clearly in her need to comfort her children before taking care of her own needs. (Though I can't deny that the "Daddy can fix anything" nod to shippiness made my heart go pitter-patter! :))
Oh, and btw, I love the idea of Jack and the Doctor being free to go out on adventures as long as they're home in time for dinner. ;) I wonder if the Doctor and Rose ever leave the kids with Uncle Jack while they sneak off to the TARDIS for some adventures of their own? *g*
Thanks for sharing the story with us, and I can't wait to see what might happen next. :)
