This is incredibly difficult to read, and so it should be. The so-called War to end all Wars, as we're reminded in the episode - how wrong they were! So many millions of lives lost or wrecked, bodies and minds savaged. Men who had no reason to hate each other forced to butcher each other on a daily basis. Reading this, and reading factual accounts of life in the trenches, it's easy to understand why there was so much backlash, towards the end of the war, against the politicians who sent young men away to die with the slash of a pen.
You've done your research very well here, but what's even more obvious is the rich emotion you've brought to the descriptions. It's painful to read, and so it should be. I'm not surprised you won this week - this deserves all the accolades it got.
