Summary: Rose is staying at Jackie's; the Doctor misses her enough to try something new.
Author's Note: Written for round 1.11 of [livejournal.com profile] writerinatardis. Prompt: Rose is staying at Jackie's for the night. The Doctor is not impressed. He decided to do something about it. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jlrpuck and [livejournal.com profile] dameruth for the beta-fu.

Rose shouldered her knapsack full of laundry. "I'm stayin' at Mum's tonight," she reminded the Doctor. "We're having a Girls' Night In. Takeaway and movies, just like the old days."

The Doctor raised an eyebrow. "And alcohol?" he asked.

"No," Rose said. He looked at her, and she added, "Well, not for me. Mum might."

"Oh, that'll be fun."

She put a hand on her hip. "It's one night," she said, exasperated. "You can survive without me for one night."

"Of course I can." He stepped closer. His eyes were very, very dark, his freckles standing out against his pale skin. "But would I want to?"

Despite herself, a corner of her mouth curled up. "You can spend tonight thinking of all the things you'll do to me when I get back," she suggested.

"So I could. We'd need to spend a week in the Vortex, you realise, just so I could try them all out. I can think of a lot of things in a whole night."

She reached up and pulled him down for a kiss. "Call me if you want," she said. "If you get too overwhelmed with the thinking."

"Oh, I will," he murmured against her lips.

Three hours into the Girls' Night In, Rose's mobile vibrated on the table next to her. She picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hello!" It was the Doctor, sounding as bouncy and over-caffeinated as ever. "I've recalibrated the landing buffers, so hopefully we'll have no more landings on our bums. And rewired some of the control panels; they were getting a bit touchy. And installed a new monitor and replaced a few circuit boards and fixed that squeaky cabinet door in the galley. How goes Girls' Night?"

"All that in three hours?" Rose asked, amused.

"Yeah, well. I took my time. Having fun with your mum? Is she still sober?"

"Doctor!" Rose protested.

"Well, it's a legitimate question, isn't it? Go on, then. Is she?"

"She's fine," Rose told him. "We watched Pretty Woman, and now we're watching 300."

"300? You mean that rubbish movie about Sparta? Rose, I thought better of you than that."

Jackie gave her a Look. "You going to talk through the whole movie?"

"Sorry," Rose mouthed, and headed into the kitchen. "S'not that bad," she told the Doctor.

"Not that bad? That's it. Our next trip is to see Leonidas. The real Leonidas. Who did not, I should emphasise, wear nothing but black leather pants."

"It's not meant to be an historical film," Rose sighed. "It's a film made from a comic book. Anyway, they got some things right."

"So did Gone With the Wind, but that doesn't mean Scarlett O'Hara actually existed." She rolled her eyes, and he said, "So you're staying overnight tonight?"

"Told you I was," Rose said. Four times, and you pouted every time, she thought but did not say.

"Yeah. You did." He paused. "In your bedroom? Alone?"

"No, thought I'd share a bed with Mum this once. Yeah, of course, my room alone. Where else?"

He didn't answer that. "Do me a favour?"

"What's that, then?" she asked, turning to lean back against the edge of the kitchen counter.

His voice deepened slightly. "Put your phone on vibrate before you go to bed."

That tone—it was the tone he used when he was seducing her, the deep, heated timbre that always made her knees weak. "Why?"

"Because I'm going to phone tonight," he said. "And we don't want me waking up your mum. Do we?"

Oh, God, she thought, and managed to say, "Erm. No?"

"No," he agreed. "I'll phone later. Enjoy your evening with your mum."

And the line went dead.

Taking a deep breath, she hit the disconnect button and returned to the living room.

Rose settled into her bed with an odd feeling of discomfort. This bed didn't feel like hers anymore, not even her beloved pink duvet. The familiar sounds of the estate—traffic, the occasional drunken voices, a siren or three—were all very well, but it still felt too quiet. She missed the hum of the TARDIS.

And as she settled down into the bed, she realised she missed the Doctor, too. Not that he usually slept with her all night, but he did generally spend an hour or so with her when she went to bed, cuddling until she fell asleep. Or doing—other things.

She glanced at her phone, lying on the bedside table beside her alarm clock. Was he going to ring? What was he going to do when he did?

The light from her mum's room disappeared from under Rose's door, and she heard the soft snick of Jackie's door closing. The flat was dark now, and she knew he could see that; her mum's bedroom window was on the front of the flat, so he could see her light go off from the TARDIS if he wanted to.

He'll wait, though, she told herself. He'll wait til Mum has a chance to go to sleep. Just in case.

Five minutes passed. Ten. Fifteen. Rose felt herself dozing off, and jerked awake quickly, half sitting up in her bed. Where was he? Had he forgotten? Did he get wrapped up in doing some sort of maintenance and—

Her phone buzzed and its screen lit up with the words "TARDIS calling." Hastily she grabbed it. "Hello."

"Hello." It was his sultry voice again, just like before, and Rose felt a twinge between her thighs. "All quiet on the Tyler front?"

"Yeah." Rose pressed her legs together, pulling her knees up. "Mum's in bed and probably sound asleep by now."

"Good." She heard a faint clattering noise, as of something falling to the grating, and knew instinctively where he was: in the control room, probably sitting on the jump seat with his feet propped on the console. "I want to try something new, Rose. New to us, at least. Remember how I touch your mind when we make love? You can feel what I do, and I can feel what you do?"

The memories of him having done that just last night were still fresh enough in her mind that it sent a wave of need through her. "Y-yeah," she said again.

His voice deepened even farther. "If you'll let me," he said quietly, "I can connect our minds from here."

"And then?" she asked breathlessly.

"Then you'll feel everything." He nearly growled the words, and she couldn't restrain a soft whimper. "Is that all right, Rose?"

"God, yes," she said, letting her eyes flutter closed as she tried to imagine what it would be like.

And then, suddenly, he was there with her. Or she was there with him—she wasn't sure which. Not in her room in her mum's flat—in her room in the TARDIS, in the bed they'd shared so often. His naked body pressed flush along hers, and she could feel his arousal against her. "Doctor?" she asked, a bit confused.

His hand stroked her hair away from her face. "We haven't moved," he assured her. "This is just our minds together, a telepathic connection. But because we've linked before, I can create a more powerful connection than in the past if I want to. Like this." His hand stroked down her throat and chest to her breast; he cupped its soft weight, swiping a thumb across her nipple. She whimpered. "See?" he murmured. "Anything I want you to feel."

His lips claimed hers and she kissed back urgently, letting her hands roam over his chest as he gently pinched and rolled her nipples. She arched into him, draping a leg over his hip to pull him in closer, pressing her hips urgently against him. He chuckled and shifted over her, and she spread her legs willingly for him as he settled into the cradle of her thighs. "Shh," he murmured. "We have all night. I can slow down time for us; there's no rush."

He bent to nuzzle at her neck, nipping lightly. Rose let her head fall back, granting his mouth greater access as one of his hands trailed slowly, slowly down her body and over her flat stomach to stroke down the outside of her thigh, then back up the inside. She whimpered, shifting her hips impatiently. "Please, Doctor."

He raised his head to look at her. "What do you want, Rose?"

"You," she said.

"You have me," he pointed out. One of his fingers trailed along the edge of her opening, and she hissed in a breath. "What do you want?"

She looked into his eyes, his dark, deep eyes, and decided he wasn't going to have it all his own way. She shifted, slipping her own hand between their bodies, and wrapped her fingers around his shaft. He gasped, his eyes fluttering closed involuntarily.

"I want this," she said, stroking up and down. " I want to make you pant and whimper and moan my name. I want to come around you, and I want you to come inside me. And I want you to slow time down as much as you can, because I want this to last as long as we can make it last."

His eyes flew open, filled with love and lust and need, and she gasped at the intensity of it. He reached down to pull her hand away from him, and in the same motion, slid into her. Her gasp turned into a long, deep moan, and her eyelids slammed shut.

"Look at me, Rose," he said. "Look in my eyes."

With an effort, she forced her eyes open and

A knock at the door startled Rose out of a sound sleep, and she stretched languorously, realising she still had her mobile in her hand. "Come in," she said, putting the phone down.

It was her mum, with a cup of tea. "You've slept for ages," Jackie said, sitting on the edge of the bed as Rose sat up, sipping the tea gratefully. "It's nearly eleven. You sick or something?" She put the back of her hand against Rose's forehead.

"Just tired," Rose said, flushing slightly. "The Doctor called?"

"No, not seen hide nor hair of him. I thought he'd be knocking at sunrise, ready to collect you and take you off again." Jackie let her hand fall back to her side, apparently convinced Rose didn't have a fever. "He tell you when he'd be by?"

"No," Rose said honestly.

"Well, he can just wait until you've had a good breakfast," Jackie declared, standing up. "I've everything in for a proper fry-up. Won't take two ticks. You'd best have your shower so you can be ready when the food is." She dropped a kiss on Rose's forehead and bustled out, closing the door behind her.

Rose slumped against her pillow, still cradling her tea. Last night had been . . . amazing. But what would it be like, seeing the Doctor in person again, now they'd done—that?

Her phone vibrated—a text this time. Curious, she picked it up.

Have your breakfast and get over here. There's a star being born near Betelgeuse. Don't want to miss it, do you?

Rose grinned. One-handed, she replied, Time machine! and hit send. Leaving the phone on the bedside table, she picked up her bag and went for her shower.
